Bolton's successor wins plaudits

Fidelity's decision to name Sanjeev Shah as manager of its £3.2bn flagship UK Special Situations fund is no less welcome for being expected

Fidelity's announcement on Anthony Bolton's successor last week met with sighs of relief from the industry after months of guesswork. Although most claim they suspected Sanjeev Shah would be named Bolton's successor on Special Situations, Fidelity did put the unfamiliar Jorma Korhonen in charge of the Global mandate following the split in 2006. Advisers including Justin Modray of Bestinvest and Gavin Haynes of Whitechurch agree after giving the unknown Korhonen a chance, a more high-profile successor was required this time.
