Clare Lombardelli's BoE deputy governor appointment gets green light from MPs

To succeed Ben Broadbent in July

The Treasury Committee has approved Clare Lombardelli’s appointment as the Bank of England’s deputy governor for monetary policy.

Lombardelli, who has served as the chief economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development since April 2023, will take on the role on 1 July, succeeding Ben Broadbent, who has served since 2014. As part of her role, she will sit on the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee, the Financial Policy Committee and the Court of the Bank of England. Her appointment was revealed by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt in February, following approval by the King.
