Baillie Gifford EM equities head Sneller to retire

Succeeded by Will Sutcliffe

Head of emerging market equities at Ballie Gifford Richard Sneller is set to retire in April 2020, after more than 25 years with the firm.

Sneller, who has been with Baillie Gifford since 1994 and has managed the emerging markets mutual funds since 2003, will be succeeded by Will Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe joined the firm in 1999, becoming a partner of the firm in 2010, and has been an investor in the emerging markets team since 2001. Seven key themes in emerging markets Sneller will also step down from the £1.1bn AUM Baillie Gifford Emerging Markets fund, which will see Ewan Markson-Brown added to the team alongside Mike Gush and Andrew Stobart.
