'Third of advisers offer fee option in mystery shop' screamed an Investment Week headline three weeks ago. I could have written that headline before I even read the research it was based on. How? Well clearly I'm not a clairvoyant, but I am a cynic, and the whole exercise was entirely predictable - yet another mystery shopping exercise from the FSA. I'm fed up of reading this research that is not worth the paper it is printed on. It's not really research in the first place - it's not even as reliable as stopping 50 people in the street and asking them whether Tony Blair should resign now...
