Name 'more accurately reflects' the trust's activities

British Empire trust has changed its name to AVI Global trust in order to "more accurately reflect" where the company invests and "how the assets are managed".

The board of the trust said in its half-year report the decision was taken after taking into account the views of shareholders and others who might buy shares in the future, and after "lengthy consideration of a number of alternatives". It is the third name the trust has had in order to continue making reference to the scope of its investment mandate, said chairman Susan Noble, as it has evolved since launch in July 1889.
