Ed Rosengarten, head of funds at Smith & Williamson, has left after four years with the firm.
Rosengarten (pictured) joined in April 2014 from City Financial, where he was head of UK asset management until September 2013.
He had previously been head of asset management at Eden Financial, before its asset management arm was acquired by City Financial in 2012.
Rosengarten spent 18 years career at M&G Investments of which the last nine years were as chief executive, equities, and as a board director.
A spokesperson for Smith & Williamson said in a statement: "Smith & Williamson can confirm Ed Rosengarten is leaving the firm to pursue other business ventures."
The move comes a month after the firm hired David Barfoot from J.P. Morgan Asset Management in the newly created role head of fund sales.
Smith & Williamson has seen a number of changes this year with the departure of fund manager Tineke Frikkee, who subsequently joined Waverton, and John Anderson retiring.
