ASI hires Hoctor-Duncan from BlackRock as EMEA distribution head

Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) has hired Alex Hoctor-Duncan as global sales director and head of EMEA distribution as Phil Barker plans to retire at the end of the year.

Barker will retire having spent 20 years at the firm in a number of roles including global head of sales at Standard Life Investments since 2010. Hoctor-Duncan joins from BlackRock where he held a number of roles, most recently as head of its EMEA retail business. He was also head of retail sales, EMEA, at BlackRock. In his new role, Hoctor-Duncan will be responsible for co-ordinating global sales activity, increasing global sales and improving the effectiveness of the firm's salesforce.
