Investment company activity high in H1 as sector reaches £183bn in AUM

Corporate activity was high in the investment company sector for the first half of 2018, with seven new launches, £2.2bn worth of secondary issuance and 26 trusts amending their fee structure.

Industry assets reached an all-time high of £183bn as new products were launched, existing companies raised further monies and the AIC expanded its universe to include a number of UK REITs and investment companies listed on the Specialist Fund Segment (SFS) of the London Stock Exchange. Although fundraising by existing companies did not reach the record £3.3bn raised in H1 2017, secondary issuance was still high at £2.2bn in the first half of 2018, with alternative trusts raising the most.
