Brown Shipley hires Santander UK's Mathewson as CEO to replace Sackfield

Wealth management firm Brown Shipley has hired Alan Mathewson from Santander UK as its chief executive, replacing Ian Sackfield.

Mathewson will start in April 2018, subject to regulatory approval, and replace Ian Sackfield who announced he was stepping down in March. Sackfield will remain at the firm as a client director. His replacement joins from Santander UK where he has worked as managing director of wealth management and private banking for the past three years. As part of this work, he led the firm's launch of its digital investment channel. Prior to joining Santander UK, he worked as chief executive of Cater Allen Private Bank and of Santander Insurance.
