LGIM's Onuekwusi adds risk to portfolios as China fears subside

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) multi-asset manager Justin Onuekwusi has increased risk in his portfolios on the belief the dangers of a hard landing in China have been scaled back.

Onuekwusi, who runs five risk-targeted multi-index funds at the firm, said he had previously been concerned about this threat. However, he now feels this risk has decreased compared to previous years. "The risk of a China slowdown has lessened. We still think it will happen but the magnitude of the slowdown is hard to predict," the manager said. "The country has lots of domestic debt, so any crisis will not play out in the same way as a traditional emerging market crisis."
