Cable: I am beginning to think Brexit will never happen

Sir Vince Cable, who looks set to be the next leader of the Liberal Democrats, has speculated that Brexit "will never happen" as people realise the negative economic implications for the UK.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr show, Cable (published) cited "enormous" division in the Labour and Conservative parties on the contentious issue, as well as Britain's "deteriorating" economy as a reason for rethinking Brexit. He said: "People will realise that we did not vote to be poorer, and I think the whole question of continued membership will once again arise."
