QuotedData: Infrastructure and specialist property top IT fundraising in 2016

Only four brand new trusts launched

Despite a slowdown in new investment trust launches in 2016, "tried and tested" formats saw significant inflows over the year, according to research from QuotedData, with infrastructure and property funds raising the most assets.

Against a backdrop of concerns over China early in the year and political uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the US election, 2016 saw just four new mandates coming to the market in the investment trust sector. However, inflows were seen into many established trusts, with significant amounts going into income-producing products outside of equities. Specialist property trust Tritax Big Box REIT topped fundraising tables, with inflows of £596m over the year, bringing its total market capitalisation to £1.5bn.
