Smaller investment firms are reviewing whether they need full membership of the Investment Association, or lower cost sector membership instead, following the trade body's recent fee hike, Investment Week understands.
Several smaller firms have said they have seen their full membership fees raised, from £10,000 for annual membership to £12,500. When queried, the IA told members the hike in fees was down to rises in the groups' own assets under management or retail sales, despite several groups seemingly being charged a similar flat fee. The fee increase has prompted the groups to review the benefits of full membership within the trade body, and whether sector membership would be sufficient for their needs.
