Leaders & laggards: The best and worst performing trusts in Q2

Investment trusts allocating to UK equities benefitted from an election-fuelled bounce which helped them top the performance tables in Q2, according to data from broker Winterflood.

A strong showing from both generalists and small-cap specialists helped UK trusts top the performance charts over the period. The two best performing trusts during the quarter invest in UK small-cap equities: Strategic Equity Capital saw a 21% share price increase, while the Lindsell Train investment trust recorded a 17% rise. Other trusts in the sector, such as BlackRock Smaller Companies (+15%), BlackRock Throgmorton (+14%) and Invesco Perpetual Smaller Companies (+13%), also performed strongly.
