Nearly a third of UK executives who underperformed last year were still handed a bonus, according to the Chartered Management Institute.
The UK's professional management body collected data from 317 UK firms on the performance and pay of some 72,000 employees, which revealed 30% of managers rated as "not meeting expectations" were given a bonus nonetheless. The CMI called this an "unacceptable discrepancy between pay and performance", according to the FT. The findings come at a time when the Investment Association has called for greater scrutiny of executive pay.
