Whittingham to leave Square Mile and return to Africa

Nigel Whittingham, the co-founder of Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research, is to return to Africa next year, handing over his responsibilities as director of distribution.

The group said Whittingham (pictured) is returning to Africa "for family reasons" but will retain his share of the business he founded last year. He will remain an executive director until the end of 2014 and will then become a non-executive director and consultant to Square Mile. Mark James, a fellow co-founder, will take over Whittingham's duties in the new year. Whittingham set up the consultancy business together with former colleague Richard Romer-Lee last September, nearly a year after the pair left their roles at Morningstar OBSR.
