The UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) has criticised the methods used by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) when it releases sensitive economic data.
In a report published on its website, the UKSA, which oversees the ONS, said it breaches codes on equality of access by giving journalists pre-release access to important data such as GDP figures, released at 09:30. It said people waiting for the ONS website to load have to wait longer for access to data than those using specialist trading platforms linked to news analytics, which can be transmitted instantaneously.
