BlackRock's Plackett gets co-manager on UK Special Sits

BlackRock's Richard Plackett is to be joined by Roland Arnold as a co-manager on the £1.4bn UK Special Situations fund.

Arnold joined BlackRock 12 years ago and has assisted Plackett (pictured) on the fund for the past two years. His new role as co-manager will take effect from 1 August. BlackRock said Roland's appointment is a formal recognition of the "strong conviction" the group has in him as an investor. Plackett, who assumed management of the fund in 2004, when assets under management were £100m, will continue to have a lead role in the management of the fund, retaining ultimate discretion over the portfolio.
