Investec raids Guinness for Lacey and Waghorn replacement

Investec has appointed Guinness Asset Management's Tom Nelson and Newton's Charles Whall to run its Global Energy fund, replacing exiting co-managers Mark Lacey and Jonathan Waghorn.

Nelson, who works at Guinness Asset Management, is set to join Investec later this year. Charles Whall, an oil and gas analyst at Newton Investment Management, is also joining as a co-portfolio manager, Investec said. Nelson was part of the team at Guinness Asset Management that ran the Global Energy fund on an outsourced basis until 2008. He is currently co-manager of the Guinness Global Energy fund, and executive co-manager of the group's Thematic Equity fund.
