IMA head of tax Lynam steps down

The Investment Management Association (IMA)'s head of tax Stephen Lynam is retiring after more than 30 years in the industry.

Lynam will leave the IMA at the end of this week to pursue a PhD in history. His replacement will be Jorge Morley-Smith, who joins from Deloitte where he was a senior manager in the tax department. He has also held tax manager roles at Ernst & Young and RSM Robson Rhodes.  Lynam is a former inspector of taxes, and has spent over 30 years in direct and indirect tax work, mainly in insurance and banking, dealing with a range of issues including the taxation of capital markets products and alternative investment funds.
