Dominique Strauss-Kahn's role as head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) looks increasingly untenable following comments from US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner he "cannot run" the IMF.
Geithner, speaking at the Harvard Club in New York yesterday, said Strauss-Kahn was not in a position to run the organisation following his arrest in New York for an alleged sex attack on a hotel maid, the BBC reports. "He is obviously not in a position to run the IMF", Geithner said. "It is important the board of the IMF formally puts in place for an interim period someone to act as managing director."
