FTSE higher after US jobs data lifts markets

The FTSE 100 advanced in early trading after positive jobs data lifted the Dow.

The US index ended 0.58% higher at 12,350 after an employment report carried out by ADP Employer Services showed US companies hired 201,000 workers in March. This is the third time in four months the US has added more than 200,000 jobs. The positive close in the US last night lifted European markets early on. The FTSE 100 was up 0.14% at 5,957, looking to make gains for its seventh consecutive session.  Another positive day will mean it has achieved its longest winning streak since August.
