Morgan Stanley launches Japan fund

Morgan Stanley Investment Management has launched an offshore Japanese Equity fund for its latest hire.

Hisayoshi Takahashi has joined the firm from Aizawa Securities as an executive director and senior portfolio manager on the Japan desk. He will work alongside portfolio manager Arthur Pollock. The managers will aim to indentify undervalued quality businesses that are trading at a substantial discount to their long-term value, the group says. They will use a high conviction approach to select a concentrated portfolio of between 50 and 70 stocks, with weightings of between 1% and 5%.
