The Dow Jones has opened more than 1.2% higher in early trading as investors reacted positively to signs Greece could get help from the European Union.
Following news the European Union will hold a key meeting on Thursday to discuss its highly-indebted nations, the Dow shot up over 120 points to break back through the through the 10,000 barrier. Caterpillar led early gains following an upgrade from Morgan Stanley, rising 4.77% to $53.20. Coca-Cola was up 3.42% to $54.45, after reporting fourth quarter results in line with expectations. Meanwhile in London, the FTSE 100 remained in positive territory this afternoon on Wall Street's encouraging opening. The index was up 0.47%, or 23.73 points, to 5,116.
