New IMA survey shows growing market confidence

UK retail investors are becoming more optimistic about the markets but remain reluctant to increase levels of investment, a new IMA report reveals.

The trade body’s third biannual Great British Investor report shows while 49% believe now is a good time to invest, an 11% increase on six months ago, only 36% plan to increase their investments in the next six months with 41% unlikely to. However, investors are becoming less risk averse, with 23% opting for cautious products compared to 39% a year ago, and 43% of respondents claiming they would take risk if they identified a suitable investment opportunity.
