Emerging markets to rally in Q4: Hexam

Positive macro data in Q4 could prompt another significant spell of outperformance in emerging markets, says Bryan Collings, manager of the Ignis International Hexam Global Emerging Markets fund.

Collings says he expects weak macro data and poor growth visibility to lift by the end of the year which will in turn raise risk appetite. “It is certainly possible that markets could rise by up to another 15% by the end of the year, and a lot of that performance may come from emerging Europe,” he says. “If the oil price begins to tick up again, or even remains at around the $70 a barrel level, Russia will start performing well.” However, Collings says he is finding greater opportunities elsewhere in the current climate, including in China and Israel.
