National Savings & Investments (NS&I) is to increase the maximum investment in index-linked and fixed interest savings certificates from £10,000 to £15,000 per issue. The increased threshold is available from 29 April. The maximum investments for these products were last increased back in 1991. Three and five-year index-linked certificates offer a tax-free return that moves in line with RPI together with a guaranteed rate of interest, while fixed interest certificates give a tax-free fixed return over two and five-year terms.
