Investec Guinness Flight was to launch a high yield bond unit trust offering 9%pa income. The portfolio invested in not only the European market, but also in sterling-denominated corporate bonds, gilts and emerging market debt. Paul Brain, head of fixed interest at Investec, said many of the high yield funds launched the previous year had comparatively narrow investment universes such as the European market alone, which had around 50% exposure to telecoms.
