As markets fell, resource stocks were among the worst hit and trusts that specialised in this area were badly affected. BlackRock World Mining, the biggest fund in the sector, hit a low of 178.5p on 5 December 2008, down from 775p at the height of the commodity boom just six months earlier. Interestingly, it has been climbing fairly steadily since the start of 2009 and has now doubled from the low.
