Technology is certainly a cyclical rather than a growth area at least as far as the history of sector funds goes. Back in the 1980s there were 16 technology funds all vying for investor money in a growth sector but by the mid 1990s there were only three. Since then technology has shot back into favour and there are now more than 20 such unit trusts.
