Following several years of sustained underperformance, the pharmaceutical sector was one of the best performers across Europe during April, Lipper research has found. This was in a month in which just 296 of the 1,905 UK-domiciled funds posted positive results, and the average return across all products was -2.37% before charges. All IMA equity categories registered falls in average performance in April, with funds invested in the US the worst hit.
