David Thomlinson, investment manager in Scottish Widows Investment Partnership's global bonds team, is seeing real opportunities in European high yield as a result of growth in China. In China, he said, there is huge demand for lead for car batteries as a result of increased car ownership. Primary lead mining has not increased dramatically so the recycled lead market has benefited.
