The most aggressive emerging Asia fund managers who outperformed in 2003 have generally suffered this year, research from Standard & Poor's has shown. Smaller companies were also hit hard in the downturn, with the result that funds with significant small-cap exposure have struggled this year, in contrast to the very favourable tailwind they enjoyed over the previous few years.
