Following the increase in the Bank of England base rate from 4.50% to 4.75% earlier this month, interest rates on National Savings & Investments' (NS&I) variable rate products will rise by 0.25%. However, the fall in gilt yields means the interest rates on the NS&I's fixed rate products, such as savings certificates, will be reduced by up to 0.3%.
