Aon is offering a free complaints adjudication service to clients of its consultancy arm.
The group's Adjudication Services, targeted at trustees and occupational pension scheme members, aims to help resolve disputes and appeals raised under a pension scheme's complaints procedure.
The service includes a guide explaining the procedures that must be undertaken once an adjudicator has been appointed and how decisions are reached. The guide has been awarded the Crystal and Honesty marks by the Plain English Campaign.
An adjudicator cannot be used if the case has been taken to the Pensions Ombudsman, a court or a tribunal. Aon Adjudication Services deals is headed by Martin Kellaway, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Caroline Gracey, a solicitor employed by Aon. Kellaway said the service is separate from any given pension scheme as to remain unbiased.
The service has been set up as an independent company within the group and is used by clients of Aon Consulting who make use of its third-party administration, actuarial, benefits consulting and communication services. There is no fee for appointing Aon Adjudication Services and no on-going retainer charges are levied.
