The Treasury is to alter legislation so as to allow Crest Depository Interests (CDI) to be held within Isas, writes Robert Stock. CDIs give the owner rights to specific equities held by Crest, the trading settlement system. Until now they have not been eligible for inclusion into an Isa. CDIs give UK investors access to a massive pool of equity outside UK borders through stocks in the FTSE Eurotop 300, the All Swiss index as well as around 5,000 US equities.
