Close Finsbury is seeking to expand Nick Train's Finsbury Growth & Income Trust in the aftermath of a successful share issue by the Finsbury Worldwide Pharmaceutical Trust. The Growth & Income Trust, which has net assets of £84.1m, changed its mandate in May to more strongly reflect the income element and initiated a discount protection mechanism at 5%. Train is seeking to boost dividends by 36% this year using gearing to invest in high-yielding fixed interest assets, particularly preference shares.
