Abbey is marketing its latest structured product as eligible for the annual £7,000 stocks and shares Isa allowance even though it has cash-style characteristics. The Inland Revenue has been keen in recent years to ensure any cash-style product is only eligible for the £3,000 per year Isa, but Abbey is confident its Guaranteed Options Plan, available until 17 March, is eligible for the larger allowance. While not commenting on the Abbey plan specifically, the Revenue said: "A product which guarantees a 100% return on capital within five years will not satisfy the test at Regulation 7 (15) ...
