Japan fared better than many other regions in the first quarter of the year despite its volatile reputation, research from Thames River has revealed. In the first of a quarterly market survey compiled by multi-managers Gary Potter and Robert Burdett, funds in the Japan sector outperformed all overseas markets, including the high-flying Asia ex-Japan. Neptune Japan Opportunities fund was the best performer out of all IMA sectors in the first three months of the year, returning 18.2% against an average 7.10% loss.
