Demand for gold soared in March as investors rushed to use their Isa allowance before the end of the tax year, according to the latest sales figures from the Skandia MultiFUNDS platform. BlackRock’s Gold & General took the third position in the top ten of gross Isa fund sales in March, moving up five places from last month. The fund’s popularity comes off the back of strong performance of the commodity in 2008, with the price rising by over 200% over the past year, despite falling slightly in the last couple of weeks, the group said.
