Barings is seeking approval to remove Japan exposure on its Pacific fund in favour of more emerging regions in Asia. The group plans to expand the remit of the offshore fund, managed by Henry Chan, to include countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand where it said there is more demand from clients to place investments. Ian Pascal, marketing director at the group, said the fund currently sits in the Asia Pacific including Japan sector, which has narrow appeal, and most clients said they would be more interested if the Japanese exposure was removed.
