Missing the first year of a post-bear market rally can decimate longer-term gains, research from Blue Sky Asset Management has revealed. The structured product specialist said this highlights the necessity of staying in the market in difficult conditions and maintaining longer-term investment perspectives. Looking at the most recent downturn for example, from 2000 to 2003, the All-Share lost 51.51% in value but by March 2004, it had already posted gains of 40.31%.
