Managing Partners Limited (MPL) plans to benefit from redemptions on open-ended property funds in the UK with the launch of its own property fund. The firm said it wants to take advantage of the 20% discounts appearing in UK residential and commercial properties as a result of forced sales from open-ended property funds. MPL’s Jeremy Leach believes it is an opportunistic time to launch a real estate vehicle as property funds, which have been fully invested with leverage, need to dispose of properties to meet redemption requests from investors scared out of the market.
