Swip has won a £20m Russell Investments Shari’ah emerging market equities portfolio. The portfolio is set to form part of the Russell Jadwa Shariah range, launched jointly by manager of managers firm Russell and Saudia Arabian outfit Jadwa in January. Swip will run a relatively concentrated 25 to 40 stock portfolio of ideas, put out by its global emerging markets team, that are compliant with Islamic law. Shari’ah law prohibits investors from making returns from investments such as arms and pornography, as well as limiting generating returns from money through interest payments. The ...
