Baillie Gifford has made two appointments on its Japanese equity team. Donald Farquharson joins as investment manager from Schroders, where he had spent 17 years. During this time he held various positions including head of research in Tokyo and more recently manager of the Japan Growth fund. Matthew Brett has been made co-manager of the Japanese fund, a sub-fund of the group’s Overseas Growth range. He takes over from John MacDougall who will continue to manage the Japanese Smaller Companies fund. Brett has been with Baillie Gifford as an investment manager since 2003. He will work alon...
