James Calder is believed to be joining Barings to head up its multi-manager team after leaving his post at Berry Asset Management. Calder has been head of fund research at Berry since 2005 and has worked at at Greig Middleton specialising in fund analysis before joining Gartmore, then Standard & Poor’s and later Bestinvest. Barings has been looking to recruit for its fund of funds division after Sam Jeffries and five other members departed for Sarasin Chiswell’s private client business in May.
