New Star’s Mark Harris has apologised for uncharacteristic bottom-quartile performance this year on his ultra-high risk Tactical Portfolio The renowned multi-manager said the fund made strong gains through the volatility in Q1 but unfortunate timing led to a performance hit in May just before markets bounced up from their April lows. “We started entering into risk trades such as China and India about a week early and that cost us about 2% of our performance and that was an expensive mistake,” he said. “For that I can only apologise.” The fund is 156th out of 185 sector rivals with -9...
