Barclays Global Investors, HSBC and Aviva are the only UK companies to feature in a list of the world’s 20 largest firms involved in asset management. With $1,493tr worth of assets under management at the end of 2005, Barclays is ranked third in the table, which is led by Swiss giants UBS AG. HSBC Holdings’ $576bn of assets under management places the group 17th in the list, while Aviva sneaks in at 20th with $545bn in assets under management.
