Investment trusts have been on a roll recently. Their outperformance compared to open-ended funds since the financial crisis has coincided with the implementation of the RDR, which should have made them a far more appealing proposition for advisers and their retail clients. The sector has welcomed a number of star managers into its ranks since 2008 - Neil Woodford, Julie Dean, and Alex Wright to name a few - and lower ongoing charges figures (OCFs) across the board have only added to the positive newsflow.
