For Investment Week's new video series tracking the progress of CASCAID, the industry-wide initiative to raise over £1m for Great Ormond Street Hospital, we headed to Legg Mason's offices to take part in the 24-hour Pingpongathon.
Between 26 and 27 July, Legg Mason hosted a 24-hour 'Pingpongathon' which saw various members of its teams as well as friends, family and clients taking day - and night - shifts playing the game be it in single, double or team matches.
Other activities on the day to raise money included an ice cream stall, bake sale and pizza party.
They passed their £20,000 target, raising a huge £20,275.96 from the event for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Members of the asset management community have also pledged to carry out a number of other challenges in aid of the children's hospital, including a Dragon Boat race in September and a fun run in October.
Meanwhile, Helen Wagstaff, managing director at Marketing in Partnership (MiP), has asked for senior figures in the industry to take part in the abseil challenge which takes place on 26 August.
Volunteers will climb down the 161m Broadgate Tower. To get involved, email Helen at [email protected].
Last year, the industry smashed the £1m target by raising £2.2m for Cancer Research UK through many different challenges and events including mountain climbs, night walks, driving around the UK in a Robin Reliant, a 24-hour dart-a-thon and country-wide cycling.
